Indigenizing Campus
These words are completely meaningless without a plan of action. If elected I plan the following:
-
To motion to council to acknowledge stolen indigenous lands at the beginning of every meeting because indigenizing campus post-Truth and Reconciliation Commission is important.
-
Furthermore, it would be extremely important for future councils to have the elder, Nistangkwe better known as Liz Akiwenzie, to address council yearly on why it is important to acknowledge the land.
-
-
Secondly, I promise to advocate for acknowledging it on school website and everywhere else on social media that states the address of King’s University College.
-
Finally, I promise to lobby to the King’s administration for the needs of indigenous students
-
Lobby for the indigenous students' room where indigenous students can engage in their spiritual practices and cultural tradition with potentially an elder on-site every so often as passed by the KUCSC
-
Lobby for indigenous awareness days that coincide with Columbus day and Thanksgiving Holiday
-
Lobby for an indigenous land recognition plaque on campus
