Changes to Council
Caucuses
-
If elected I would like to implement caucuses to gain feedback on how the KUCSC can improve the student experience of all students
-
Caucuses are good for democracy as more voices gain more influence on the workings of a governing body
-
I would like to create caucuses so more people can get be a part of student council as positions for certain populations are limited. I would like to create a first year caucus (half on campus, half off campus, co-chaired by the first year reps), international student’s caucus, mature student’s caucus, indigenous student’s caucus (headed by indigenous rep)
-
The idea is to give a voice to traditionally marginalized students in life or by council

Council Training and Retreat Weekend
-
Being a part of council for my first time would not have been as successful without the USC training and retreat weekend
-
This weekend had profound effects on the group. People were closer and felt like a team, more willing to engage in dialog than council fights, people felt more comfortable around the people they were working with and became less afraid to ask questions. Ultimately, I believe that this made for a more efficient and effective council overall.

Training is extremely important because we need so much more than an info session
